The movie "Papillon", composed by Jerry Goldsmith (1929-2004), perhaps one of the film composers I most admire, is being released for the first time in 50 years, and I wrote some text entitled "Papillon's Music Design" for the movie's brochure. It may be rare to find a brochure that goes so far into the music.
Goldsmith is a master of suspenseful, contemporary sounding music, but he is also a melody maker. I hope you will take the opportunity to experience this for yourself.
おそらく僕が最も尊敬する映画音楽作曲家の1人ジェリー・ゴールドスミス（1929-2004）が音楽を担当した映画「パピヨン」が50年ぶりに公開されることとなり、映画パンフレットに「パピヨンの音楽設計」という原稿を書きました。ここまで音楽に踏み込んだパンフレットは珍しいかもしれません。
ゴールドスミスは現代音楽的な響きのサスペンスフルな音楽のマスターですが、メロディーメーカーというー面も持っています。どうかこの機会にそれを体感いただけたらと思います。
